Beef Burgendy
Do you like beef?
Because I love beef.
Obviously.
And if you like beef half as much as I do, especially the soft, tender, barely have to chew meat that Ben calls “soft meat,” then you’ll love this beef Burgundy.
Let me put it to you this way. I made this the weekend before Thanksgiving. Then I had to make it the day after Thanksgiving. Then we ate it for lunch and dinner the following day. It’s that good. It’s like crack in beef form.
Not that I know about crack.
When we were in Shreveport, a good family friend named Margaret made us this for dinner one night and it’s been floating around our minds ever since.
Hey Margaret, we’re coming back in a couple weeks before Christmas.
If you feel like cooking, I know what we could have….
2 onions chopped fine in food processor
2 tblspn. vegetable oil
2 lbs beef tips (can use sirloin tip roast)
2 tblspn
1 cup beef bullion
1 1/2 cup Burgundy wine (Noble Pig, please don’t hate me. I grabbed a $4.99 pack of mini Merlot bottles that were about a cup each. I’m cheap.)
1/4 tsp. each of marjuem, thyme, oregano.
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 cup shredded carrots
Garlic (3 cloves)
1) Saute onions in oil.
2) Remove from pan and put aside.
3) Dust beef with flour and brown meat.
4) Put meat and onions in a pot. Add 3/4 cup of beef bullion, 1 cup of wine, all seasonings and carrots.
5) Simmer covered for 1 1/2 hours. Stir occasionally. If dry, add more liquid and stir for 15 minutes.
6) Serve over egg noodles boiled with tablespoon of oil.
Stay tuned, Invisible Friends! Tomorrow, we have a new Kitchen Magic, where Bizzy navigates the world of kitchen fairies. And this weekend, we’ll take a tour of Christmas in the Pond!

December 5th, 2008 at 6:15 pm
I marinate my meat starting the night before in one full bottle of red wine, oh geez it’s good. I know this is an addicting dinner.

This recipe sounds delicious. Now I have a question (probably a lame one)…I have heard of beef boullion cubes that you put in water. Is there beef boullion liquid that is sold at stores or is it just beef broth?
August 12th, 2009 at 11:56 am
OH YEAH!!! This looks delish. Must try!
