Ode to McDonald’s Ice Cream Cones and How I Love Thee

Ode to McDonald’s Ice Cream cones and How I Love Thee
Ode to McDonald’s ice cream comes,
and how I love thee,

You’re really the best thing since Elvis Presley.
Creamy and cool,
Tasty and sweet,
You are the defintion of a quick treat.
On a cool spring night,
After a tough or easy day,
A few little words,
Is enough to make me dazed.
All Ben has to do,
Is look at me and smile.
Before he can say those three little words,
“Ice cream cone?”
I’m out the door.
It doesn’t take much,
To please a simple girl like me.
Give me some ice cream and country music,
And I’m really happy.

There’s just something about that mountain of ice cream,
Curling toward the sky.
And no matter how many licks or slurps,
It still tastes mighty fine.
Imagine my despair,
Once I reach the end.
After that last bit of cone is popped in my mouth,
It’s like I lost a dear friend.
And you know what that means, don’t you?
It’s time to order again!

Ode to McDonald’s Ice Cream Cones and how I love thee.
For the thing that makes me happiest,
the thing that makes me estatic,
Is that at 150 calories,
you’re not fattening.
Which means in my simple logic,
That’s a lot more ice cream cones for me.
And that makes me happy.

Hello Blondie! I just wanted to tell you keep an eye out for my St Patty’s Day post, I give you a shout out, and wanted to say, that I may not comment much on here of late, but I get busy, and only have had time to read blogs…my phone rings off the hook sometimes…
I love the cone blog…creamy and dreamy writing!
Reminds me of a story, but I get in trouble, because I talk too much!
March 17th, 2009 at 7:07 am
Sounds yummy!
Love your ode.

Oh gosh, how I love vanilla cones from the Golden Arches!! My hubby has this moral issue with going to McDonald’s and hasn’t even had water from them in something like 5 years. Whenever we are on long road trips I make him take me to get a cone and I swear he whines the whole time! Even being inside the building makes him squirm. I started at a new job a few months back and there is a McDonald’s about 1/2 mile down the street. It has proven to be a bad thing.
March 17th, 2009 at 7:11 am
Hmmmm… I love vanilla ice cream cones. So delicious! And completely over looked by her evil sister Chocolate.
March 17th, 2009 at 7:14 am
I think I’m getting an ice cream cone today!!
March 17th, 2009 at 7:15 am
Duckie – you are just too cute! What a fun little poem!!! I love Micky D’s ice cream too. I think I need some right now!
I hope things are going well for you. I’ve been thinking about you a lot this past week.
XOXO

I Love McDonald’s ice cream cones too! Yet again something we have in common. I don’t know if they do the cones over here or not. But they do have lovely ice cream vans that go around in the summer that you can get a lovely soft serve ice cream cone from. ohhh, and at the seaside you can get one in a lovely sea shell made out of the same stuff as ice cream cones. It’s delicious!
PS I LOVE country music too!! Something we are sadly lacking over here! I write to sky television every month and beg for a country music channel, but so far nobody’s paying attention to lil count me!
March 17th, 2009 at 8:57 am
Oooh my, I haven’t one of those cones in ages! Once in a blue moon I’ll head over to our local Carvel for soft served vanilla cone, yummy!

OK, my dear — I am amused.
But, like Jenni, I’m writing my odes to the Shamrock Shake until she’s gone
Speaking of shakes, what ever happened to the Arctic Orange Shakes?

I love this post. You are so creative. Did I tell you my son and wife live in texas. Wouldn’t it be fun if you actually knew them!
March 17th, 2009 at 3:25 pm
What more can I say! McDonalds should hire you as their poet laureate.
March 17th, 2009 at 3:30 pm
There are few things in life better than a quick treat like this. My other weakness is for a frosty freeze from Dairy Queen. Y’all have those in Texas?

Sometimes, during the summer, those ice creams from McDonalds are so wonderful. I used to love it when they’d make the tiny ones for little kids. I’m sorry that they stopped.
March 18th, 2009 at 7:53 pm
I haven’t eaten anything from a McDonalds in over 10 years.
March 19th, 2009 at 3:18 am

Hiyas
Well, I piped the icing on some of the cupcakes with an XL round tip from Wilton. The others I frosted by hand. Sometime in the next week I’ll be posting a blog on how to frost a cupcake! Make sure to check out all the tips I’ve learned!
Thanks for stoppin by my blog!! xoxoxo
March 19th, 2009 at 5:36 pm
OH my GAWD how I love McDonald’s ice cream. As a kid they were .25 and I could walk to it from my house! As a pregnant lady I, both times, would probably have one at least every other day! If I have another child, I am seriously going to figure out how to have one at home.
March 19th, 2009 at 11:08 pm
I LOVE McDonalds Ice cream cones!
March 23rd, 2009 at 12:14 pm

I LOVE THE CONE!
April 3rd, 2009 at 4:06 pm
I won’t even tell you how many of those I got last summer, except I got them dipped in chocolate. Plus, I don’t even *know* how many I got so I couldn’t tell you even if I wanted to. ;0P
Love your little jingle!

I love the ice cream cones. Tell me how many calories in one cone and the fat content. I need to know, I have one everyday. Anne Manganelli
