Creative woman feature: Liz from Loving Mom Two Boys
Shameless plug: Check out my post at Venus vs. Mars!

For this week’s Creative Woman of the Pond, we’ve got Liz from Loving Mom Two Boys!
Liz manages to raise two boys while sewing, taking fabulous pictures, scrapbooking and doing all sorts of fun crafts.
I feel tired just thinking about it.
Let’s chat with her, shall we?
What does creativity mean to you?
It means being free and fun. Thinking outside the box to resolve an issue, solve a problem, or create something new. I don’t think it has to apply directly to crafting or artwork. I think some of the best solutions in the working world are the results of a creative mind looking at the problem from a new angle. Although for me personally, I love the act of creating something cute and fun — expressing my craftiness.
What kind of creative things do you do?

From her Etsy Shop
I love to sew and play with Photoshop. Also, I love creating new meals, dishes and desserts. It is a great way to share my creativity.
Have you always been creative?
I think I always have been, but for a long time I never realized it. I always defined creativity as being able to be artistic and showy. Over the past couple of years my definition of that has changed when I realized that my ability to look at things differently at times was my own creative skill. Over the past year, I have really focused on finding an outlet for it.

Tell me about your background.
I am currently a robotics engineer. Formerly, I was a biotech researcher and a wildlife biologist in training.
I am a Rhode Islander, born and bred. I am the mother of two boys, ages 1 and 2 1/2 years old, and married the love of my life in 2005.

A bag she created in three hours!
What’s your favorite thing about blogging?
I love the friends I have made –so many lovely ladies! Another amazing thing for me is all the inspiration I have found on other blogs. There are so many creative bloggers out there! There are so many beautiful writers, seamstresses, artists… I have become so inspired by them all.
Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging as a way to keep a record of my family, for us to have somewhere to look back to.
If you could go anywhere with anyone, where would you go and what would you do?
I would love to go back to Ireland with my family….or take my boys to Disney. Maybe when they’re older!
If you could be any animal in the zoo, what would you be? Why?
A lion….because they have great hair!
What’s your favorite type of pie?
Lemon meringue or apple!

One of her home cooked meals!
Ideal meal?
This is a tough one – food is so mood dependent for me! Any well cooked, home cooked food. Nothing frozen or fried!
I love fresh and crispy veggies. Asparagus or broccoli well prepared is a treat.
What’s the best gift you’ve given someone?
My first big gift was to my husband, while we were dating. I bought us a trip to Ireland. It was an amazing trip!
If you could describe your mantra with one quote, what would it be?
“Your happiness is directly intertwined with your outlook on life.” It’s actually from a fortune cookie, if you must know!
What’s one secret people don’t know about you?
This is a hard one. I am very much an open book!
What do you hope people learn/ get from your blog?
I want people to know my joy in life, the joy of being a mom to two beautiful little boys. I want my family to know what we are up to, and I want my boys to be able to come to my blog someday and read about how much we did together, and how much their father and I loved them and loved to spend time with them. I want people to know that its not all about being a pro, being able to do great and amazing things; but being happy with what you have and making the most of every moment of life and love.

One of her boys!
What do you hope your children learn from you?
That they are always loved. And that the joy in life is what you make of it; not what you have or what you can buy.
Favorite movie?
Wizard of Oz
Ice cream or pudding?
Oh definitely ice cream…plain old chocolate ice cream!!
What do you hope to accomplish in 10 years?
I want to raise my boys as best as I can, upgrade to a bigger home with a bigger yard and continue to be happy and healthy in life and love.
