Hey Invisible Friends–check me out at Venus vs. Mars, where I’m a featured blogger today!

Ode to Halibut (and How I Love Thee)

Ode to halibut,

And how I love thee,

Your flaky taste,

Your rich but mild flavor,

they have captured me.

alaska-092

Oh halibut,

We’ve been parted for so long.

I haven’t inhaled your tastiness,

since we went to Alaska last summer.

dsc05662

Grilled or fried,

Baked or broiled,

it makes no difference to me.

Just give me some halibut,

A bottle of ketchup,

And stand back–

I get a little crazy.

dsc05660

Oh halibut, you know I love you.

I really do.

I even overcame my cheap ways,

to shell out $15/lb for you,

Since we don’t have anything but catfish and salmon here in the Pond.

Considering I could have gotten a filet mignon for that,

it’s a big deal, halibut o’mine.

dsc04945

After all,  we all know how much I love beef.

dsc056581

Oh halibut, you were worth every penny.

There’s just something about the flaky texture,

the light taste,

the way I can inhale over a pound in a single sitting.

alaska-329a

Oh halibut, it may be awhile until we meet again.

It may be when I return to the cold waters of Alaska,

Or whenever you magically appear in the grocery store.

But until then, I want you to know…

dsc056601

Oh halibut.  I do adore you so.

For I composed an ode to you, halibut,

about how I love thee.

Truly.

dsc056581

For I have to say–you’re quite tasty!

Stay tuned, Invisible Friends! Tomorrow we have a new Penelope’s Pie Shop and Thursday, the Blond Duck way to cook a true Texas brisket!  Friday we’ve got a new twirl and more creative fun this weekend!  Stay tuned!

There are 5 ladies in our Ladies’ Night. There’s two younguns (we’re 26 and 28), a 36 year hold, and two early mid 50’s. So we’re a WIDE range of ages. We meet the first Thursday of each month. We take turns hosting based on last names. The host takes care of dinner while each other person picks either appetizer, dessert, bread, or wine/drinks. We LOVE it!! I highly recommend doing something like this. No really “travel” time cause you’re in the same “hood” (as we call it LOL).
