Critter Confessions 3

Hello, Invisible Friends. We’re the pink penguins.
And we have a confession to make.

You see, as pink penguins, we offer something to the public no other penguin can. We bring brightness to bitterly cold days, cheerful color to landscapes of endless white and a peppy disposition to the hopeless.
We dance, we sing, we frolic like no other penguin can. We get paid very well to entertain birds of all colors and creeds.

But it’s a ruse.

You see, we’re not really from Antarctica. We never grew up in ice and snow. We didn’t have to dodge killer whales, travel hundreds of miles for food or deal with harsh blizzards while protecting our babies.

In fact, we’ve only been to Antartica a few times. There’s not that many places to book gigs there.

You see, our confession is…we grew up on the beach. The beach in the Bahamas, to be precise.
We drew up drinking virgin pina coladas in coconut shells, dancing on the sand, swimming in the surf and spending days on a highly air-conditioned boat. It’s why we’re pink penguins. We’re permanently sunburned.

We’re also permanently tickled pink, as our neighbor is an octopus who can’t keep his tentacles to himself.
So, our press materials are false. Our act is untrue. And our stories of battling killer whales to save our babies? Heard it from a friend.

But, shall you ever find yourself in the mood to snorkel, scuba or para sail, we can help you out with that.

After all, we’re the pink penguins. We know how to party.
Stay tuned, Invisible Friends! We have a week of whimsical fun coming up! We’ve got a new Twirl, Coconut Queen and Gift, along with a delicious pie and all sorts of fun! Stay tuned!

Okay, THESE are my favorite critter! I love penguins!!!!!!!!!!! We went to the zoo yesterday and I was so bummed because the penguin exhibit was being cleaned so we didn’t get to see the penguins.
M,
I’ve decided with your blog I’m gonna ‘catch up’ on the weekends because with your stories I really want to take the time to read them and during the weekdays I’m always rushed. So please don’t think I’m neglecting your blog during the week. I just really wanna give your stories my undivided attention that they deserve!

Penguins are such fun to watch aren’t they. I really enjoyed watching the Fairy Penguins in Australia, and also in the sub-tropics of New Zealand. It’s amazing that they don’t just live in the frozen wastes.
Very nice blog, pleased I found you and I am now following.

They are so cute. I love it – pink penguins. You could write a story about pink penguins; maybe a children story about a penguin who was born pink and does not fit in with the other penguins. They all make fun of her because she is pink. But then she does something great and heroic – a sea lion comes along and wants to eat one of the mom penguins eggs, so the pink penguin covers the eggs by sitting on them. The sea lion gets confused because he has never seen a pink penguin…so of course, it can’t be a penguin and he swims away. All the regular penguins are cheering and the pink penguin becomes loved by all. As she grows older, she lays pink penguin eggs. Ok, I think you could probably write a much better story.

I can’t tell you how much I love critter confessions. These penguins know how to carry off a sunburn. Of course, pearls are always a classic touch.

I always thought those penguins stories were too good to be true.
What a lesson in lying penguins. I’ll have to remember to tell my children. Birds can never be trusted.

I understand. I mean, a girl (or penguin) has to keep up her reputation, right? So long as your tales stay this entertaining, I say keep spinning them.

Drinking virgin pina coladas in coconut shells my idea of heaven – you rock pink penguins
June 29th, 2009 at 2:03 pm
LOL – I want a virgin pina colada in a coconut shell myself.

Great reading AND a recipe to look forward to as well. You’re spoiling us Duckie!
June 29th, 2009 at 5:12 pm
Love this post Miss Duck, and not *just* because the penguins are pink, although you know we are partial to that color. They are having way too much fun, and we’re glad for that!
Smiles, grins & giggles,
