Father’s Day
To all the fathers,
Who went to work every day,
Who battled the board rooms and corporate ladders,
And taught us the meaning of a honest day’s work for an honest pay.
To all the fathers who helped with math homework and science projects,
Who gave advice on every subject (saying, “No charge”),
Who drove us around the country lecturing on culture and history,
And pushed you to be better than you ever thought you would be.
To all the fathers who sacrificed,
Who taught us what real life was like.
Who showed how creativity and hard work could make anything happen,
And taste pretty sweet.
To all the fathers who taught us sports,
Who showed us to swing a golf club,
Who instilled the respect of love and family within us,
and weren’t afraid to be crazy about a Chihuahua.
To the fathers of creatures great and small,
Who tolerate stained carpets and torn rugs,
Who pay for high vet bills and expensive food you can only get at the co-op without complaint,
Who spend evenings wrapped around the paw of a 4lb. Chihuahua Queen,
And loving every minute.
