Hello, Invisible Friends.  Sandie the Stingray here again.

dsc06038

And I have a confession.

dsc060401

I’m so distressed by this.  I really am.  For a stingray, it’s simply scandalous… If I could wuffle, I would.

dsc060391

So I guess instead, I’ll just shuffle.  In shame.

I know, lame joke.  I guess there’s no getting around it.

I’ll have to admit it.

Here goes:

dsc060401

I, Sandie the Stingray of the Sea, am allergic to shellfish.

That’s right.

dsc060411

I know what you’re thinking.  You’re thinking, “Excuse me, Sandie, but all stingrays eat are crabs, clams, shrimp, fish and worms.”  WORMS!  How can a girl survive on fish and worms alone?

Well, this girl can’t.  No sir.

And that’s the bad thing.

Driven to boredom by munching on fish nuggets, fish and chips, fish tacos, fish burgers, fish sandwiches, grilled fish, blackened fish, fried fish, fried worms, grilled worms, stewed worms….you get the point; I turned to a even more scandalous craving.

Bacon cheeseburgers!

fries

And fries.

Just give me a thick patty of meat, a slab of cheddar and juicy bacon on a tasty bun…and I’m happy.

So happy that I’ve been eating two or three a day.

It’s really wrecking havoc on my girlish figure.  Do my side flaps look fat to you?

I’m depressed now.  Anyone up for a burger?

Stay tuned, Invisible Friends!  We’ve got a week full of whimsical fun coming up…as well as the Midsummers Night Dream Ball!  If you haven’t already e-mailed RSVPs for your critters or Pond Ambassadors, do it today!  Today is the last day!  After that, no more RSVPs will be accepted!

It’s ok, you just feel bloated from all the salt. Don’t worry, you’re not fat!

  2. Cafe Fashionista Says:

I’m kind of in love with this post. The whole giving a stuffed animal, or inanimate object a personality has always been a favorite pasttime of mine. And just for the record, you’re not fat…you’re just big-boned! :)

  3. whimzie Says:

And now I’m craving a bacon cheeseburger at 9 in the morning!

Thanks for stopping by and weighing in on our Schnoodle saga. We’ve decided to hold off on adopting just yet until we have a few more boxes unpacked and can actually find our stuff…like our spoons, for instance!

    Happy Weekend!

  4. Barbara Says:

This really is shocking since I’ve fed stingrays in Grand Cayman several times and their love of seafood compels them to interact with humans on a regular basis.

  5. KathyB! Says:

    Poor little Sadie :(

Those burgers are an awfully nice consolation, though!

  6. Pseudo Says:

If I ever saw a sting ray stuffed animal, I would so have it right now.

  7. Pietro Says:

Ah, this post make me smile! Very funny the burger and the fries placed straight after the photo of Sandie the Stingray!!!!!

  8. jenjen Says:

Funny! I could go for a bacon cheeseburger about now too. I hope things are going well in the pond. Have a wonderful weekend Duckie!

  9. maris Says:

So funny! Sometimes a bacon cheeseburger is all ya need! LOL

  10. Marjie Says:

We can all have bacon cheeseburgers together, sing campfire songs, and commisserate with each other over whether we’re fat. Then we’ll await the critter fest with bated breath. Happy weekend, Duckie!

  11. Teresa Says:

I’m in deep love with Sandy…she’s got my kinda taste in food, and she’s so hug-able!

And, yes, Sandy, I’m up for a burger! ;)

    OMG, LOL!

  19. ladydi Says:

So, is it safe to say she was “stuffed” after eating that bacon cheeseburger?? I think that could be worse than the shuffle-wuffle joke. Sorry, I’m still a little loony after the obligatory swim meet yesterday. You and Bitty should stop by there’s a recipe I am sharing and it involves chocolate…

  20. Teri Says:

I think you look great, but if your feeling puff-ish you can always try the master cleanse! ;-)

  21. Cheryl Says:

Poor little Sandi. Try a chicken burger my dear!

  22. Connie Says:

Amen, Sistah Stingray, I’ll take hamburgers over fish most times, sugar. Do NOT stress over this; it isn’t worth the stress. Just take come vitamin B complex and relaaaaaaaaaax………
    xoxo,
    Connie

  23. Cakelaw Says:

Oh, poor Sandy – although being condemned to a life of burgers and fries is not so bad :)

  25. Pam Says:

What I would do for a huge cheeseburger right now. Mmmm.

  26. Dawn (bee and rose) Says:

I know exactly how Miss Sandie Stingray feels…there’s nothin’ like a bacon cheeseburger to soothe your appetite! Chilly walked by and saw your photo and is just really begging me to make him one! lol!

  27. nora@ffr Says:

hehe Sandie the Stingray looks pretty and fluffy!! :)

  28. grace Says:

mmm…burger porn, one of my all-time favorites. :) you are just too entertaining, miranda.

  29. Katherine Says:

Ok, it’s 9:30 and I’m drooling for a cheeseburger. Not just any old cheeseburger froma fast food chain, but a homemade one that dribbles down your arms to your elbows. The kind that take about 20 napkins to enjoy.

  30. perpstu Says:

Mmmm….cheeseburgers! Just do a few extra laps around the pool and it won’t matter Sandie!

  31. Legallyblondemel Says:

I mean, who CAN resist a good cheeseburger? I recommend that Sandie pick up the most recent “Texas Monthly”, which has a good feature on where to find the best burgers. It isn’t mammal specific, so there’s something for everyone (or every sting ray) in there.

  32. QueenBeeSwain Says:

love love love- so glad to be back in civilization if for no other reason than to catch up on the happenings at the pond!

PS- a great post would be one with all of your critters… I’d like to see the storage area that they all inhabit when they’re not gracing us with lots of critter drama!

    xoox

    kHm

  33. Kristin Says:

That stingray and I have a lot in common!

  34. Madison Says:

I bet critters from near and far will be dressed in their finest attire. Can’t wait!

In response to your comment: Ah, impatient now are we?! It won’t be long.

  35. Erica Says:

I’ll take just the fries please ;) I am hoping for the day when my meal looks better than Josh’s and you want mine instead ;)

  36. Lorraine @NotQuiteNigella Says:

Haha the secret life of a stingray! :P I love that you have a stingray soft toy. I’ve never seen one in my life before!

  37. theungourmet Says:

    Poor Sandie! :0(

  38. Lori Says:

    Your sideflaps look fine girl!

Everytime I see a stingray I think of my honeymoon when my husband and I touched them, held them and enjoyed them.
