Hello.  I’m Elsa the Christmas Tree Fairy.

You may have met my cousin…DSC04464

Jazzy the Kitchen Fairy.

But Invisible Christmas Friends, I have a confession.

A Christmas Confession.

It’s so silly.

Ridiculous, really.

I’m ashamed for even wishing it, for ever allowing the thought to spark in my mind.

If the other ornaments knew, they’d all giggle at me.

I feel more absurd than a fruitcake party in July.

But, being the honest Christmas tree fairy I am, I’ll reveal my secret to you.

You see, it’s always been my greatest wish…

my secret dream…

my hidden hope…

To be an elf instead of a fairy.

And not just any elf…

But a Christmas Cookie Elf that lives in a Christmas tree.

I don’t want to be just an average elf humming away in Santa’s workshop….

Or one of those cookie-making elves that live in a tree all year long. elf

You know who I’m talking about.

Nope, I want to be a baking, decorating, sprinkles and icing everywhere Cookie Christmas Elf that lives in a Christmas Tree.

Can you imagine how fun it would be?  Being a Christmas Tree fairy is lovely, of course. Everything always smells like pine, the ornaments are delightful companions and I can create Christmas magic with the tiniest flick of my wand.

I can also create plenty of mischief, but that’s neither here nor there.

But if I was a cookie-baking Christmas Tree Elf, I could have the best of both worlds!  I could create all sorts of magical cookies and fudge and candies, sprinkled with peppermints and sparkly sprinkles and thick green and red icing.  I could make gingerbread men and sugar cookies and snickerdoodles pretty enough to hang from a tree!

I’ve asked Santa every year, but so far, my dream’s never come true.  I know it’s silly, but being silly doesn’t keep one from wishing.

Of course, there’s always this Christmas….

Stay tuned, Invisible Friends!  Next week is Christmas week at the Pond!  Get ready for lovely Christmas stories, delicious recipes, odes to Christmas socks and more!

Elsa is the most lovely Christmas tree fairy I have ever seen. Her dress is gorgeous. Why is it we always want to be something we are not? She is perfect. Let the Elf make all the cookies…Elsa should stay just as she is…waving her magic wand and not have to slave over a hot stove. (Bet she didn’t think of that, did she?)

  25. Louise Says:

Charming Miranda, simply charming. Perhaps the little Fairy needs to be reminded to be careful what she wishes for. I’ve been wishing for a white Christmas and wouldn’t you know it, I’ll be digging til the 4th of July!

If you get a chance, duckie, pop over to my blog. There’s something I would like you to see.

  26. Bibiana Bailey Says:

I have two little Christmas Elves in my house and they love when I read them you stories. Thank you.

Thank you for stopping by during the Sharefest.

  27. TeresaR Says:

Honestly, that’s the kind of elf I’d like to be too if I had to be an elf, but I wouldn’t want to live in a Christmas tree: too prickly! ;)

  28. GingerSnaptoit Says:

How cute! I have always liked the “Elf on a Shelf” – you know, the ones that watch over you before Christmas as a kid to make sure you were nice and not naughty?! So fun :)

  29. heatherlyn Says:

“Being silly doesn’t stop one from wishing” is such a profound line. It quite possibly connects most of humanity. :)

  30. marie Says:

I understand her pain. Being a Keebler Elf would be the best thing. Just think of all the goodies. Love your tales as always Duckie. You’re the best! I love those ornaments as well. I’ve never seen anything quite like them!!

  31. Marie Says:

You have the cutest ornaments! And I love how they reveal their true selves to all of us!

  32. bridget {bake at 350} Says:

I like that…cookie elf! :) Your ornaments are so sweet!

  33. Nutmeg Nanny Says:

May her wish come true this year! She would make such a great cookie elf :)
