Dear Santa

Dear Santa,
It’s the first day of Christmas week at the Pond. You can imagine our horror when we realized we had not written a letter to you yet and stuffed it in our stockings.

But we’re ready now.

First, we would like a box. A big box. One with all sorts of interesting smells and made of tasty cardboard.
One can never have enough boxes in one’s life.

We’d also like some tasty bones…

And chew sticks. We love chew sticks. We love to chew. Chew, chew, chew.
Speaking of bones and chewing…

We would really appreciate some barbecued rib bones. Oh yes. Lots of rib bones.

As many as you can fit in your big red velvet sack, if you don’t mind.

And of course, we’d love lots of new toys to rip apart and destroy. It’s the joy of Christmas and being a puppy.

Of course, we want a hippopotamus for Christmas.

Only a real hippopotamus will do.

With proper hippo ‘tocks.

Bear would like some snow….

Bitty would like someone appointed to hold her during all her naptimes, as well as spoon feed her only the finest rotisserie chicken (shredded, of course…)

And would appreciate it if Booger the Lobster did not come for Christmas, as she dislikes his tendency to hog the pie.

Bear requests that there be no more Christmas sweaters…

Or long walks. They make him wuffle.
And Queen Bitty’s big demand…
For the Blond Duck’s dad to submit to her power and reign as Queen of the Pond.
Submit to my cuteness and power…
Resistance is futile. Even for you, Santa.
Thank you very much.

And Merry Christmas.
Love,

Bitty and Bear
P.S. We were serious about the hippo.
Stay tuned, Invisible Friends! Tomorrow we have an Ode to Christmas Socks and How I Love Thee and the second part to Priscilla Piper Wednesday! Thursday we have a brand new Christmas tale and more Christmas fun Friday! Stay tuned!

Awwww, your puppies are adorable, especially that last picture of them cuddled up together. How sweet!
And I was ALREADY singing the “I Want a Hippopotamus For Christmas” song, but now I will definitely NOT be able to get it out of my head thanks to you. When my co-workers start complaining about my singing, I’m going to blame this post!

December 21st, 2009 at 1:28 pm
I am SOOO excited about my letter!
And I still can’t get over that last picture. (If you lived closer, I would seriously try and steal your dogs. But then I would feel bad because I like you, and you don’t deserve that. They’re so cute though, I couldn’t resist.)
December 21st, 2009 at 1:33 pm
The last photo is over the top oozing with preciousness!
December 21st, 2009 at 1:47 pm
If they want snow, they can come up my way. We have plenty.
That sweater photo expression was priceless!
December 21st, 2009 at 2:05 pm
Hahahaha! “Bear requests that there be no more Christmas sweaters…” I too dress up my dogs. My husband thinks something’s wrong with me.
I still have to consistently show my girls your “cookie stealing bunny” pic. They love it! I even had to set it as my background on my laptop.
Thanks for stopping by to leave me some comment luv today!
Merry Christmas!

So cute. Several things are particularly notable 1) I didn’t know dogs could squint scathingly 2) love the ‘tocks, and 3) last picture is absolutely adorable! My cats absolutely love boxes too, for them no better Christmas present exists.
December 21st, 2009 at 2:15 pm
I don’t think Santa will be able to resist at all. He’s putty in their hands, or paws.
December 21st, 2009 at 3:36 pm
I bet they love Ben so much for giving them lots of treat. Happy holiday to you and Ben.

I love it! While I am sure that Bitty could cope with a real hippo, I am not so sure about poor Bear …
December 22nd, 2009 at 5:02 am
Awwwww…..that last picture. So sweet! How could Santa resist?
December 22nd, 2009 at 5:08 am

December 22nd, 2009 at 5:45 am
Chihuahuas know just what to ask for!
December 22nd, 2009 at 8:45 am
Is there someone brave / foolish enough to question the reign of Queen Bitty? The very thought terrifies.
Wishing you & your animal kingdom a merry Christmas!
December 22nd, 2009 at 2:20 pm
Omgosh! Soooo cute! I hope Santa brings them something extra special. (in addition to a hippo)
December 22nd, 2009 at 3:57 pm
Oh my goodness that last pictures of them sleeping together is the cutest thing I have ever seen! I wish my kitties would sleep like that. Instead they like to hiss at each other (usually because the little one likes to try and pick up the big ones tail with his teeth….) I know you will never give up the rein and power of the pond and good luck on your new hippo
December 23rd, 2009 at 5:05 pm
Oh that was the sweetest post.
