Hello Duckies

Once a year, I get to make my Hello Duckies.

Now, traditionally these are called Hello Dollies or Magic Cookie Bars. I call them Hello Duckies because, well, it’s cute. And fun. And I can.

I posted these last year around Christmas, but I adore them so much I have to share them again.

Nuts…coconut…butterscotch chips…or chocolate.. or peanut butter chips…

Or all three on a graham cracker crust…
It’s delicious.

Trust me.

Magic Cookie Bars/ Hello Dollies
Ingredients
* 1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
* 2 cups graham cracker crumbs
* 1 (14 ounce) can EAGLE BRAND® Sweetened Condensed Milk
* 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips (or butterscotch, peanut butter or white chocolate. Or both or a mixture!) (I used 1 1/2 bags)
* 1 1/3 cups flaked coconut
* 1 cup chopped nuts
Directions
1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F (325 degrees for glass dish). Coat 13×9-inch baking pan with no-stick cooking spray.
2. Combine graham cracker crumbs and butter. Press into bottom of prepared pan. Pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over crumb mixture. Layer evenly with chocolate chips, coconut and nuts. Press down firmly with a fork.
3. Bake 25 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool. Cut into bars or diamonds. Store covered at room temperature.
Stay tuned, Invisible Friends! Tomorrow we have the New Year’s Resolutions of the Pond!

That’s a retro recipe for me (I am old!). But thanks (I think) for the reminder of how good they are. Maybe I can get them made before my New Year’s Resolutions kick in ;>) Or maybe when they’re called duckies they don’t have as many calories as they did when they were called magic bars. One can always hope!
Happy New Year
