Dancing

Many magical  things happen while you’re dancing.

The world and your worries melt away.

Your toes tingle, your heart races and your soul soars.

And then the music begins, and a magic occurs.

Suddenly, you twirl and bend,

Sweeping across the room with your arms flung out,

pirouetting across an imaginary stage,

Turning gently en point like a puppet from a string.

Or maybe you giggle and blush,

caught in the arms of the one you adore,

Trying not to notice as his toes bump yours,

As you shyly make your way across the floor.

As the evening wears on, your confidence grows.

Suddenly you’re leaping and bouncing and swinging from the ceiling.

You jump and twirl and are spun around,

Going down and up and around and up and down again.

Then a sweet waltz fills the air,

And you slide across a wooden floor as the fiddle sings.

The neon buzzes and the guitar hums,

A night of Western poetry under the Texas stars.

Cheek pressed to cheek,

heart pressed to heart,

there’s no greater love,

then dancing in your favorite partner’s arms.

For that is when the magic truly soars,

When your feet float on the ground.

For one song, your arms are entwined as you twirl and sway,

Your eyes locked together, your lips inches away.

The most delightful things happen while you’re dancing, it’s true.

I agree! This reminded me of Twirl. I loved that story. There was another short story that I liked. I don’t remember the name of it but the guy was the governor of Mexico and she went back into time and then had to wait for him. Remember? That was a good one too.

Btw, I LOVE that photo of Ben dipping you and you guys are looking into each others eyes! You look happy and in love.

  60. Rachel (S[d]OC) Says:

Well, yes and no. Dancing is a fun activity, but all of that carefree stuff goes out the window when you are down to the wire for your dance recital and you don’t have all your steps right!

*sigh* I’m grounded from dance class by a bad knee for a while. Dancing is just a memory right now.
