The puppies of the Pond love peanut butter.

DSC04094

Just the sound of a jar cracking open sends them barreling across the house.  It’s the only thing that gets them out of a warm pile of laundry or that they leave their burrowed nests in our comforter for.

These are some peanut butter loving pups.

I don’t know where they got it from.

That’s right.  For puppies.

DSC06840

After mixing only four ingrediants and rolling them out to cut into cute little shapes, 20 minutes later I had birthday puppy peanut butter cookies.

Butterflies for Bitty, and snails for Bear, in case you were curious.

The verdict?

DSC06844

They loved them.

They carried them off to their favorite hiding places…

They happily munched…

Smacked and chewed…

While Ben and I had peanut butter cookies.  The human kind.

Peanut Butter Puppy Treats

(Otherwise known as Peanut butter puppy poppers from Bullwinkle.com)

2 cups whole-wheat flour

1 tbsp. baking powder

1 cup peanut butter (chunky or smooth)  (I used smooth, JIF).

1 cup milk

Preheat oven to 375′F. In a bowl, combine flour and baking powder. In another bowl, mix peanut butter and milk, then add to dry ingredients and mix well. Place dough on a lightly floured surface and knead. Roll dough to 1/4 inch thickness and use a cookie cutter to cut out shapes. Bake for 20 minutes on a greased baking sheet until lightly brown. Cool on a rack, then store in an airtight container.

As an owner of an 80lb. Airedale, I’ve haven’t had a small dog since my parents had Monique- a mini poodle! She was my bud, the parakeet would ride on her back..slept at the end of my bed, and I had to give her insulin shots every morning in her old age.. Guess who likes animals, and guess who they like back.

  39. elra Says:
