PB Puppy Treats

The puppies of the Pond love peanut butter.

Just the sound of a jar cracking open sends them barreling across the house. It’s the only thing that gets them out of a warm pile of laundry or that they leave their burrowed nests in our comforter for.

These are some peanut butter loving pups.

I don’t know where they got it from.

Naturally, for their second birthday last Friday, I made them peanut butter cookies. For puppies.

That’s right. For puppies.

After mixing only four ingrediants and rolling them out to cut into cute little shapes, 20 minutes later I had birthday puppy peanut butter cookies.

Butterflies for Bitty, and snails for Bear, in case you were curious.

The verdict?

They loved them.

They carried them off to their favorite hiding places…

They happily munched…

Smacked and chewed…

While Ben and I had peanut butter cookies. The human kind.

Peanut butter in the Pond for all!
So when it’s your puppy’s birthday…
Or an ordinary day you want to spruce up…

Bake some peanut butter puppy treats for them.

They’ll be delighted.
Peanut Butter Puppy Treats
(Otherwise known as Peanut butter puppy poppers from Bullwinkle.com)
2 cups whole-wheat flour
1 tbsp. baking powder
1 cup peanut butter (chunky or smooth) (I used smooth, JIF).
1 cup milk
Preheat oven to 375′F. In a bowl, combine flour and baking powder. In another bowl, mix peanut butter and milk, then add to dry ingredients and mix well. Place dough on a lightly floured surface and knead. Roll dough to 1/4 inch thickness and use a cookie cutter to cut out shapes. Bake for 20 minutes on a greased baking sheet until lightly brown. Cool on a rack, then store in an airtight container.
Stay tuned, Invisible Friends! Tomorrow we have a new Dallas Jean and Saturday, a new Land of the Flowered Bed tale! Stay tuned!

Oh Em Gee! I love that you posted this recipe! My big dog, the Scoobinator 3000, looooves peanut butter. I usually mix it up with his crunchy food and shove it inside his Kong cone. It keeps him busy for a good 20 minutes. I need a bigger cone….

What a brilliant idea for doggy treats! I’m on the look out for a new dog, so I’m thinking of visiting a rescue centre soon.
Usually I always carry mints and I just can’t resist giving one to every dog that I happen to meet! Horses love them too!

Stopping by from SITS, and so glad I did! Hubby recommended this morning that, while we have my four year old nephew for the weekend, maybe we should bake some doggy treats. As an owner of an 80lb. Airedale, I’ve haven’t had a small dog since my parents had Monique- a mini poodle! She was my bud, the parakeet would ride on her back..slept at the end of my bed, and I had to give her insulin shots every morning in her old age.. Guess who likes animals, and guess who they like back.
February 4th, 2010 at 3:01 pm
Naughty … naughty … gosh, you know my son do this a lot, and drive me crazy, because I end up running out of pb most of the time. I should just ask him to make this treat, but then he might eat it himself … I know him!!!!!

Those cookies almost looked bigger than them, lol. I really appreciate you sharing this recipe. I always give a Trader Joes peanut butter biscuits to my next door neighbors dogs. They finish up a box pretty quick, especially during the summer. I’m definitely going to try your recipe. i’ll let you know how it goes.
Sweet wishes,
Sara
