Dallas Jean Lee always wanted to be on the front page

On a bench outside the Corsicana courthouse, a pair of smooth white hands trembled as they picked up that day’s pages. The screaming headlines could not be silenced, the harsh black ink slamming into her irises.
Council hearing reveals sordid scandel, secrets
by Clementine Jane Lee
The Corsicana Council of Conscience, a group made up of selected revered citizens chosen by former Mayor John Peterson, embarked on the third day of hearings today in the Corsicana courthouse.
The hearings are to determine whether mayoral candidates Dallas Jean Lee and husband and opponent Grayson Lee attacked current Mayor Watson, who announced his run for Senate last week, and purposely destroyed his office. According to the Lees, they were drawn to the office to defend their daughter, this reporter, from family allegations and attacks in the press. When they arrived at Mayor Watson’s office, he was reportedly holding this reporter at gunpoint after she threatened to expose a web of corruption between the mayor, sherriff’s office and several judges and city council members.
In addition, the accused are also testifying to various allegations, such as Dallas Jean Lee’s father, Walt Lee, engaging in human trafficking of illegal Mexican immigrants for profit. Other allegations include Grayson Lee’s campaign manager, Norman Rockwell, having an illegitmate child with the current mayor’s wife, Teresa Watson, and using the affair and the child as blackmail against the Watsons. A woman named Angela Moore, a clerk in the records department of the City Council office, claims that she holds proof that Teresa Watson and Norman Rockwell are her parents. Currently, Rockwell faces charges of blackmail, conspiracy, extortion and fraud connected with various pending trials.
If convicted, all guilty parties could receive a jail sentence, community service or combination of the two, along with being forced to drop out of their respective runs for office.
“This is ridiculous,” Mayor Watson said when asked for comment. “I’ve done nothing wrong. I am a upstanding pillar of the community. During my term as mayor, I have made Corsicana a town worth living in. I’ve improved our schools, fixed the highway and made our streets safer for our children. To accuse me of being involved in illegal activity is ludicrous. The sheriff and I barely know each other. He’s got his job and I’ve got mine. And as for my wife, she’s been nothing but loyal. We just celebrated our 30 year anniversary.”
Teresa Watson was not available for comment by press time.
After testifying and handing out pies to the jurors and public attendants, Dallas Jean Lee engaged the courtroom in a impromptu “Chicken Dance” before being silenced by the Head Councilman, George Alridge. Lee, known for her public antics and impulsive campaign tactics, was often reprimanded during her testimony for rambling and discussing topics of alternate natures. Finally, after three days of “exhuasting” testimony according to one councilman, Dallas Jean Lee was excused from the bench.
“Anyone who knows Dallas Jean Lee knows that she’s just an innocent bystander,” said Adelaide Bordeaux, Lee’s campaign manager and best friend. “All this crap about her dad is a bunch of lies. And the Mayor is just making crap up to make himself look good. He held her at gunpoint, for God’s sake! He tried to kill her family. If I was her, I’d have him taken out. Don’t quote me on that. I don’t want people to know I said that.
“And I know people think she’s just some blond airhead, but she really cares. Her Puppy and Pie campaign will bring some much needed joy and whimsy into this town. I mean, who cares about budgets and bonds? Have you ever seen and old person and a kid with a puppy and a piece of pie? It’s pure joy. Pure joy. And look at all she’s done for the petting zoo. Have you been there recently? It’s so much happier! The animals are cheerful, the workers don’t look like they’re beaten and it doesn’t smell like a swamp anymore. Have you ever been in a swamp? It’s the most miserable, stinky place alive. That’s what that zoo was like until Dallas Jean got ahold of it. Dallas is like a cinnamon roll–lots of icing, but rich and spicy underneath.”
When asked for comment, Dallas Jean Lee only replied, “Vote for me and I’ll bake you a pie. Rather, Miss Maisie will bake you a pie. I’m not allowed to bake the pies, for people’s own gastrological safety. I’m just allowed to give them out.”
Today, Grayson Lee and Norman Rockwell will be questioned by the Council. Tomorrow, after a 12-hour deliberation and final statement from each of the pertaining parties, a decision will be announced at midnight. The public is invited to stay for the declaration, which will be held at the Corsicana Square.
Shaking now, the smooth white hands stroked the fuzzy black and white photo. A manicured fingernail traced over the thick black ink: Angela Moore.
Flicking to the side, the thin porcelain fingers pulled up a silk sleeve to reveal a delicate diamond watch. Three o’clock. Court would be out any minute.
And so would her secret. For it was time. It was truly time.
Stay tuned, Invisible Friends! Tomorrow we have a new Comfort and Whimsy and after that, a week of whimsy and fun!

So, Mrs. Mayor will be exposed? Or is that Dallas Jean’s mother, who took over her father’s “human trafficking”?
