If I had minions…
Sunday, Ben and I went to see Despicable Me.
I adored it. I love it. I want to own it. I adored the little girls, especially the one with the unicorn obsession (not that I was like that when I was little), and Steve Carrel’s character.
But more than the movie itself, I adored the minions.

How can you not love the minions?

And I got to thinking, what would I do with a bunch of minions?

If I had minions…
I would build have them build a submarine so we could go searching under the ocean for Atlantis.
If I had minions…
I’d have them build me a pink go-kart with streamers, leopard print seats, a horn that shouted “ARUUGGAA!” when you punched it and had a special seat with helmets for the Babies to ride along in. Then we would all race, them in their minion go-karts, me in my pink one.

If I had minions…
We would have the world’s biggest tea party with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, cookies and apple slices. Minions have the perfect giggles for tea parties.
If I had minions…
They could build me a giant robot shaped like a duck called the Duck-a-tron. I could outswim any boat, fly over traffic with a triumphant quack and never have to worry about finding a parking spot.

If I had minions….
We could create a giant pyramid of waterskiers and win a grand prize.
If I had minions…
We could create our own year-round summer camp, with horseback riding, smores, swimming, arts and crafts and tons of fun. Because I’m sure a large group of minions could figure out how to create artifical climate control.

And finally, if I had minions…
I would go to the moon.
But not to steal it, to dance on it.
Because minions seem like they’d be wonderful dancing partners.
Stay tuned, Invisible Friends! We have a new pet shop story tomorrow and a delicious recipe Thursday! Plus, the end of Dallas Jean Friday and a new Comfort and Whimsy Saturday! Stay tuned!

Duckei, you’re a classic! I want to provide you with some minions so that I can see what you do with them!

Minions! Atlantis!
Clearly the recipe for the perfect vacation.
Can I come?

I’ve heard great things about that movie. I’ll have to add it to my list.
I’d love to take a ride in the Duck-a-tron. The minions could tape our adventures and we’d make millions! The minions would be included, too, of course.

If I had minions, I bet they wouldn’t let me dine alone.
August 3rd, 2010 at 8:44 am
I had not seen it yet. I think I’ll wait for the dvd to come out. I am actually waiting for “Eat, Pray, Love” movie to come out. Are in to this type of movie? I must say that I am not really into Julia Robert thing, but I have to see this movie because it was shot in Bali, My birth place and where I grew up

They remind me of the toys in the claw machine in Toy Story, though I think they probably have different personalities. Was the movie as funny as the commercials make it out to be?
August 3rd, 2010 at 9:19 am
I have never so much as heard of this film, let alone seen it. I suppose this is what happens when you have no cable. :/
August 3rd, 2010 at 9:37 am
I don’t know, wouldn’t minions at some point decide they should organize and demand rights? Then you’d have to make them cookies and pie while THEY danced and had all the fun!

I like to say a kid, too. You have to find something that will keep you young.
August 3rd, 2010 at 10:10 am

I have to admit, I’m not an animation fan! I know, I lack whimsy.
August 3rd, 2010 at 12:17 pm
I want the minions to fix my wrist! Fast.

Minions are a great thing to keep handy around the house. If only I could convince my chicas that they need to act more minion-ish…
August 3rd, 2010 at 7:25 pm
The minions with 2 eyes have a better sight than those with 1 eye!
August 3rd, 2010 at 8:27 pm

I haven’t seen the movie yet, but it does sound fun to have minions. Sometimes I refer to my husband and daughter as my minion. A very small minion.
August 4th, 2010 at 9:53 am
You are so hilarious! Have you tried the minion French toast at iHop?

Very glad to hear that Ben took you to a movie. Minions were great, but the little girl just stoled my heart. Danielle and I both thought she reminded us of you.
