Sometimes…Summer

Sometimes, when I’m walking past a sprinkler, I want to kick off my shoes and run through it, ignoring my soaked clothes and mascara running down my cheeks as I laugh and slide in the slick grass.

Sometimes, I wish all sidewalks and streets were giant waterslides instead. Any place would be more fun if you crashed in a huge gushing wave. It would be the ultimate entrance.

Sometimes, all I want to do is blow bubbles. All day long.

Sometimes, a popsicle with sticky red juice that runs down your elbows and stains your fingers is the only answer.

Sometimes, I pretend I’m a mermaid in an underwater enchanted kingdom when I swim. Even though I’m 25.

Sometimes, I wish I could spend all day in my swimsuit outside on the beach, searching for shells, building sandcastles and frolicking in the waves.

Sometimes, I want to invite everyone over for a sundae party. With lots of sprinkles, of course.

And sometimes, when I see kids playing outside until the fireflies come out and the street lights come on, I wish out I was out there with them.
Because sometimes, I wish I was a kid on summer vacation again.
Stay tuned, Invisible Friends! We have a new Pemberely Pet Shop tomorrow, a delicious recipe Thursday, a new Butterfly Dress story Friday and more fun! Stay tuned!

I ALWAYS wish I was a kid again on summer vaca. Really, was there anything like it? I lived in a neighborhood with tons of kids and it was awesome. I miss those days.

I can’t believe summer is coming to an end!
August 17th, 2010 at 6:46 am
Oh, a sundae party, how divine!
.
Sometimes I like to pretend I’m cinderella in the bathtub. I like to imagine all the bubbles are part of a beautiful dress made of sparkly bubbles and diamonds

Yes to all of the above. Sometimes when I’m out for a morning walk in the ‘hood I’ll see many lawns being watered with sprinklers. I want to run through them. I sometimes walk just a little close…
I could stand to sit on the beach all day. I hate coming home from Chincoteague.
I also own a big gallon of bubble solution. Nothing like sitting on my balcony with a glass of wine and a big jub of bubble solution!

Summer here has been great, I am happy that we didn’t have any too extreme summer heat. My family visiting from overseas, we had great time. I hope yours as well.

Ahhh so sweet. You are soo young and young at heart which I love!

This may be one of my favorite posts of yours. Sometimes I too pretend I’m a mermaid when I’m in the water and I’m 37. I’ve always felt more alive in the water than on land. IS that crazy or what? I’ve even wondered if I were a fish in another life. LOL

Stumbled up on your blog via SITS — love these photos! Oh how I love the sprinkler and those yummy Popsicles, and bubbles! I would add lemonade stands… how I loved having a lemonade stand and stopping by my friends stands too.
Thanks for the refreshment!

At my sister’s wedding the fact that she wanted to be a mermaid (arguably, still does) was mentioned in no less that 3 speeches and the DJs even played “Kiss the Girl” at the end of them. Also, if you had a sundae party I would be jealous and have to eat one up here to make myself feel better. I think you should do it.
Have a great day!

A truly wonderful post, indeed. Once again you just wrote about the simple things in life and turned them into something magical and philosophical.
And hey – I’m in the early 20s and wish I was a mermaid sometimes… ^^
