Two-Face Apple Pie

I have a shocking confession.

I love pie. I adore pie. I live for pie.

I am a pie princess. It’s all I ever want.

I eat pie instead of birthday cake. If it’s Christmas, I want pie. Thanksgiving, gimme pecan pie. Halloween, candy corn pie. I don’t care.
I love pie.
But I faced a terrible pie quandry: What was my favorite apple pie?

Was it lattice top…

Regular top…

Or crumble?
I had to find out. I had to know.
So I did this.

Half crumble, half lattice.

I had a slice of both. For judging purposes.

And the winner was….
Strudel/ Crumble/ Crisp top! Though any pie is a delicious pie, in my opinion.

I guess there was a reason I had tiered apple pies (strudel top) at my wedding…
Stay tuned, Invisible Friends! We have a new Butterfly dress tomorrow and a new Comfort and Whimsy Saturday!

Too funny! You would fit right in at my house. My husband and kids LOOOVE pie. (Pumpkin is probably the #1 kind.)

Yum! Any pie is good… but the caramel apple strudel top is a fave for me… so is sweet potato… and then there’s peach and blackberry… a winning combination… and then… oh, crap! There are too many wonderful pies in the world!
Love the Wedding Pie… great idea!

Hmmm… Wish I’d thought of that for our wedding! I don’t like cake – except cheesecake. I do love pie – pumpkin, pecan, chocolate chess, banana split, apple…
August 26th, 2010 at 5:44 am
Oh my goodness, such a cute cute blog!!! And I love pie too! My hubby hates cake and would rather have pie for his birthday.
August 26th, 2010 at 6:02 am

You love pie? I’m SHOCKED! I love apple pie too and I always prefer a crumb topping. Yum!
August 26th, 2010 at 7:50 am
Yes, I am that way with Krispy Kreme donuts. I know what i like though, without a doubt its the hot original glazed (but only fresh will do daaaaahling).
, must be all that twirling you do!
You look so thin for a girl who loves apple pie
I think its the coolest thing in the world that you had it for your wedding.
*kisses* HH
p.s. check this out: think of the possibilities daaahling: pocket pie for lunch:

Save the crust and crumbles, just give me the filling!!
August 26th, 2010 at 8:46 am
Oh that’s so awesome! I love that you had pies at your wedding…it’s just so you! And I agree, any apple pie is a good apple pie. Now…which ones are the best apples? I think another taste test is in order.
August 26th, 2010 at 8:57 am
I would have had a slice of both too! Good thinking!
August 26th, 2010 at 9:58 am
Now I’ll have to search Vegas for a great pie place. Marie Calendar’s used to be good, but they have been going down hill for the past few years.
August 26th, 2010 at 10:00 am
Very nice the image of you with the sunflowers!
August 26th, 2010 at 10:15 am

pie is so nice!
you are my pie!
August 26th, 2010 at 11:55 am
We make the finest pies in the United States. We bring in fresh fruit straight from the Caribbean, juice it on-site fresh and it goes right into the pie. No bottled juices. Just the finest fresh fruit and sweetened condensed milk.
I enjoyed reading about your obsession with pie, I share in your passion / obsession. :0

Last evening there have been no wins at the lottery! The jackpot increases!
Happy Friday!
August 26th, 2010 at 7:32 pm
I love that you served pie at your wedding! I’m already excited for apple season so I can make pie
August 26th, 2010 at 7:45 pm
What a revelation – you love pie? Why have you never told us before…
I love crumble,not pastry topping.
August 26th, 2010 at 10:14 pm
Shut up! That is a fabulous idea! I think I also would have chosen the crumble top because that is my favorite part of the pie. Too funny.
I thought of you last week when I was making quesadillas with a delish pulled pork recipe I have. They were so tasty. Here’s the link…http://pumpkindelight.blogspot.com/2010/08/tasty-tuesday.html
You’ll have to try it and let me know what a fellow mexican food lover thinks.
August 27th, 2010 at 7:23 am
I’m with you on the pie vs. cake thing. Pie always wins! And a streusel top gets my vote over a pastry top any day of the week. But I’ve got to say that blackberry is the most wonderful flavor to me.
August 27th, 2010 at 10:52 am
That last picture is awesome! I’m totally all about the crumble topping- it rocks. Thank you for the well wishes sweet lady
August 27th, 2010 at 10:55 am
Ooh – I think I’m going to need to do that experiment – though just half a pie might not be enough of a taste test, I might be forced to make multiple pies!
August 27th, 2010 at 11:49 am
You are too adorable.
Strudel top for sure!
I miss being around the pond! I need to visit more often.
August 27th, 2010 at 1:17 pm
This is so awesome! I have never ever in my entire life seen a pie like that. It just shows what an awesome personality you have.
August 27th, 2010 at 6:51 pm
I know why
You are a pie
In the sky
Never shy
Oh my
I am tired. I was trying to rather Dr. Seuss-ish. Are you amused?
You always lift my spirit up to see your carefree pictures. I love your spirit girl!
August 28th, 2010 at 12:11 pm
You are my hero. That’s awesome!
August 28th, 2010 at 5:48 pm
Brilliant! Best of both worlds! THough for me, the more crumble the better!
August 30th, 2010 at 10:13 am
How neat to have pies at your wedding. They all look good!
August 30th, 2010 at 11:27 am
I LOVE that you did tiered apple pies at your wedding. What a fantastic idea.
August 30th, 2010 at 1:55 pm
I’m liking the look of that hybrid pie! If you ever come to Europe, come via my house, and I’ll make you pie from the apples in our garden
August 30th, 2010 at 4:39 pm
Thank you Ducky for doing that research for us. I’m glad to know I favored the right pie all along. You just cant beat a good strudel topping! Girlfriend,-your the best!
Now thanks, I have a craving for pie.
Whatcha gonna do ’bout it?
Hey!, about the chocolate PB bars- I think you should make them and try both PB chips on top AND a PB-chocolate swirl! Brilliant???
Do the reserch for me and then, have your people get back to my people!
Love ya Ducky!

miranda. seriously. this is a magnificent creation–it pleases all apple pie lovers as well as those of us who can’t pick just one favorite. the solution is simple–a slice of each.
