I had a brilliant idea.

And it’s all Teresa’s fault.

Val 027

You see, I won a giveaway on her blog for  Writer’s Desk Reference Pack.  And I started thinking about how I loved to write, and I loved to share my writing with you.  How my life long goal is for my stories to bring whimsy and joy to your lives.

Then I thought, what about your stories?

One of my favorite things as a kid was creative writing classes and contests.  I entered them all the time and won a few, even though I shouldn’t have.  My work was bad, really bad.  I still remember a poem in fifth grade published in an anthology that began:

A red rose hates my nose,

Every time I inhale,

I turn very, very pale.

And when I sneeze I really wheeze.

While very pale I faint,

Into a bucket of red paint.

My clothes are yucky,

I’m really mucky.

I made my mom mad,

To her I was very bad.

Oh yeah.  We’re talking Laurete winner over here.

Anyway, I got to thinking about summer.  And writing.  And love.  And contests.

So for the first time ever, I’m proud to announce the First Annual Summer Love Writing Contest of the Pond.

Approved by Queen Bitty, of course.

The rules are simple:

1) Anyone of any age can enter.  Children are welcomed and encouraged, as are those who still have childlike whimsy in their hearts.

Not that I would know anything about that.

2) The topic is summer love–whether that’s a summer romance, a love of summer, love of puppies and summer, love of ice cream and summer, swimming and summer…whatever you want.  It’s just got to be about something, someone or some day you love in the summer.

3) Word count: 2500 max, 300 minimum.

4) All entries should be copied and e-mailed to me through my contact page–just paste in the body.  If that doesn’t work or you have trouble, e-mail me.

5) All Entries are DUE MAY 27 at 5 p.m.

6) Three winners will be announced May 31 at 5 a.m. First, second and third places.

7) The first place winner will receive a whimsy pack created by the Blond Duck.  The second place winner will receive a copy of one of the Blond Duck’s books and the third place winner will receive a special treat from the Yellow Duck.

8) All questions should be emailed to me through my contact page.
