Ode to Peanut Butter Pie

Ode to Peanut Butter Pie (and How I love Thee)

Ode to peanut butter pie,

And how I love thee,

For without you my life,

Would be seriously less tasty.

My love for peanut butter is no secret,

This savory sweet creamy confection,

Has been a staple in my diet,

Since practically my conception.

And no one can doubt my love of pie,

Considering I had stacked French Apple Pies instead of wedding cake.

What’s not to love about crust and filling,

Particularly when crumbles and crisps adorn?

But oh peanut butter pie,

You sinful delight,

How you haunt me.

I may only get you a few times a year,

But I savor every bite,

Every lick of cream,

Every crumb brings delight.

There’s nothing like peanut butter,

Whipped cream and cream cheese,

With a bowl full of sugar,

One bite brings me to my knees.

If goldfish gorge,

And guppies are greedy,

My tales with this pie and fork,

Can only be described as utterly beastly.

For if I was left alone,

With an entire pie,

Figure be damned,

My hips would cry.

I would eat and eat,

day after day,

meal after meal,

Until you’d say,

“For the love of Queen Bitty!

Stop eating pie!

Your face is as big as the moon

Your butt a mile wide!”

“I can’t stop!” I would shout,

Shoveling in slice after slice,

“It’s far too delicious

To worry about my pants size!”

Though this is a fond dream,

That haunts me at night,

Too rarely does this pie pass my lips,

It makes one want to cry.

Ode to peanut butter pie,

And how I love thee.

For without you,

I might be a size 3.
