Tootie’s Chicken Pot Pie
Ode to Tootie’s Chicken Pot Pie
Ode to Tootie’s Chicken Pot Pie,
and how I love thee,
for without making you,
I’d be devoid of all tasty whimsy.
Tootie is my dear mother-in-law,
As many of you know,
She’s a fabulous cook,
And makes me look like a total newbie.
As soon as the leaves turned cold,
And the temperature dropped to a chilly 80 degrees,
Ben turned to me and pleaded,
“Won’t you make me a chicken pot pie this weekend?”
No pie from the freezer,
No pre-mixed nastiness,
Good old fashioned home cooking,
Made from scratch.
So I chopped the veggies,
Boiled up the chicken,
Rolled out the crust,
And the pie got to baking.
An hour later,
After letting it cool,
We both dove in,
Eating like wolves.
It was tasty and creamy,
Comforting and filling,
Flaky and satisfying,
The perfect chicken pot pie.
The only problem,
With Tootie’s pot pie,
Is if I share the recipe,
I have to die.
So come over to the Pond,
Grab a seat at the table.
I’ll whip us up a chicken pot pie,
With more biscuits than you can handle.
Ode to Tootie’s Chicken Pot Pie,
And how I love thee.
For without you,
My fall wouldn’t be tasty.
Stay tuned, Invisible Friends! A new Friday Five tomorrow! And next week it’s Thanksgiving week!!!

I love chicken pot pies. I absolutely love the mixture of chicken, veggies and gravy. Plus, you should definitely get a kind. It will change how you read books.
