Fluffy White Rolls, Take 2
Mission Fluffy White rolls has begun.
Last weekend, Ben and I scoured your comments. Well I scoured, he pointed and grunted, “Yes, no, maybe.” After collecting a stack of recipes, I picked two to try last Sunday: Pam’s and Barbara’s.
Pam’s turned out to be a success.
They were fluffy and soft, perfect with butter and honey.
I’m sure Barbara’s would have been too. Except I goobered them up. Worse than what this picture shows you.
Ben wasn’t amused.
But he ate enough Pam’s rolls to stumble into bed and fall into a carb induced sleep, so it all works out.
Next weekend, I’m trying more recipes. And I may try Barbara’s again, if I can get over my shame.
The mission continues….
Stay tuned, Invisible Friends! A new Friday Five tomorrow!

well Pam and Barbara are two ladies who I’d trust with my kitchen and dry active yeast! Those both look awesome.

I love the ‘Great Fluffy Rolls’ experiment–like I said, I haven’t tried to make them…but I have heard that they are harder than they look (as with most simple things). That second photo looks ‘practically perfect.’
I Googled for recipes and thought that these looked good. I haven’t tried this recipe, but I’ve always been pleased with the recipes I have tried from King Arthur’s website:

I luv rolls, but I have to buy them.

Despite lacking amusement initially, I think Ben definitely enjoys the cooking perks there. I know I would.

Oh, they both look great! I’d also eat them all in fall into a carb coma. Not pretty.
Good luck on the quest!

The look so good! I love trying out new recipes and sometimes things go wrong – well done on these!
Thanks for your sweet comments on my blog. Have a good end of week – not quite weekend yet

Yum! I am a total sucker for bread…I could probably eat one of those whole pans if I let myself. Seems like a fun experiment with very little failure possibilities because all bread is good, right? Good luck with your future attempts!

I love bread. Any kind. And now, since Ben has given his seal of approval (evidenced by his falling asleep), I want to try that roll recipe too!

Pam’s look fantastic. Hungry for some dripping butter and jam and those golden beauties! I have a fantastical butterhorn roll recipe that I’m going to post about in a week or so. I’ve made them for years and they can be frozen ahead of time. So perfect. Thanks for sharing your results with these – honest with the good and not so good

Nice job on the rolls. Breads can be so frustrating sometimes!
January 20th, 2012 at 1:37 pm
Yummy. Those look delicious. I’m not sure I could have taken a picture; they would have been digested long before the camera came out
