Friday Five: Five Things I’m Not
This Friday Five, we learn the Five Things the Blond Duck isn’t….
1) I’m not the kind of girl to be blasé and cool. I dance in Walgreens, bounce everywhere and snort when I laugh.
2) I’m not the kind of girl to sit in a spa and drink wine or lounge by the pool. I’d rather go swim with dolphins, go to the zoo or do something exciting. Like zip lining. With monkeys.
3) I’m not the kind of girl to sit still. If there’s a floor, I’ll be dancing. It’s the only reason I like weddings. If there’s no dancing, I don’t want to go.
4) I’m not the kind of girl to coo over babies (in fact, I’ll just pray you don’t ask me to hold it.) But if you’ve got a puppy–I’m your new best friend.
5) I’m not a winter girl or a fall girl. I love spring and summer. From October to February I get depressed and mopey until the mountain laurels and cactus bloom. And then I’m in heaven.
Stay tuned, Invisible Friends! We have a new Saturday story tomorrow!

I totally relate here….I snort when I laugh too and my kids just shake their heads. Babies…..love mine dearly but don’t want to hold anyone elses…..but give me your puppy and I will melt!!! Glad I’m not the only one that feels that way! Have a great weekend!

Just noticed the mountain laurels yesterday — woo hoo!

I wish I could be more like you! You are such a carefree, happy go lucky girl- good for you!!
February 24th, 2012 at 5:25 am
I’ve never understood the point of going on a vacation just to lie on your back near a pool or even the beach. I can lie in my bed for free at home! And I can totally relate to the baby thing. I’m okay with older kids, but as a childless woman, please don’t assume I’m longing to hold an infant…there is a reason I have a dog, not a kid.

And these are just some of the reasons why we love you!
Fun pics, darling

Because you’re not all of these things, you are more awesome. I admire you lots, Duckie! Also, I have Unearthly and can’t wait to start reading it. Thank you for the recommendation and I hope you have a good weekend!

I wasn’t a baby cooer either. Or holder. Until I had one.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend of all the things you are!

Love that insight into you — and that PANK dress!!

I don’t coo over babies either. I couldn’t get enough of my own, but I am much more enamored with them once they start crawling around and getting chubby.

I don’t coo over babies either (except mine own). I also don’t offer to hold them unless it is a close friend’s baby.
I like the slide pic. Fun!
Happy Friday!!

Never was a baby coo-er at all, and I preferred not to hold them. My own kids were a different story, but any other babies? No thanks. And dancing? In the grocery store? It’s a requirement some days. It often leads to snorting laughter as well.
February 27th, 2012 at 9:11 am
I want to try ziplining but it totally freaks me out. Even still, what a fun post this was
February 27th, 2012 at 5:09 pm
Somehow it doesn’t surprise me that you dance in Walgreens!
February 28th, 2012 at 9:18 am
Fall is overrated! I hate winter. I’m a summer girl all the way. I’d be okay with spring except that “spring” in the traditional sense doesn’t really exist in NY. It’s usually just a long, cold extension of winter that erupts into summer sometime around May. Sometimes we’ll get a week or two of stereotypical spring weather scattered throughout the months, and some years we really luck out and get consistent spring weather, but it’s kind of rare.
I consider myself someone who can sit by the pool with a drink and go ziplining and dolphin swimming with equal enthusian though.

You know, I never was a baby person. I just didn’t *get* babies. Well, then I had my own babies. And I *get* babies now. I still don’t really want to hold someone else’s newborn. But I really just adore my own children and can connect with other children, too. I always did love animals though, as well. So someday if and when you have children of your own you might be surprised how much you like them. But you’ll still never want to babysit anyone else’s!
