Ode to My Litte Ponies (And How I Love Thee)
Ode to my little ponies,
and how I love thee,
for you’ve been my favorite toy,
since the age of three.
Oh little ponies,
you’re such a delight.
Fun and colorful,
Cute with pink tails and manes,
I only wish you were real,
So I could have a stableful.
For years and years I played with you,
boxes and boxes full.
My favorite was a purple pony with a pink tail named Melody,
with blue eyes that blinked,
And lashes oh so fluttery.
I carried her to school, to the grocery store,
All around the backyard and even to dance.
Mom even made her a matching cloak,
to match my princess dress.
Oh my little ponies,
how I love thee.
One was not enough,
three was barely a start,
it took ginourmous tubs until I was thrilled,
only to have Mom throw them out.
But even though I’m two and a half years from thirty,
I still love My Little Ponies.
I strut in my little pony t-shirts,
pepper my office with figurines–
I’d watch the cartoons, if Ben would stop laughing.
Ode to My Little Ponies,
and How I love thee.
For without you,
I would have never discovered whimsy.

My daughter was very excited to see your post this morning and was imprese you even had a picture of scootaloo. I, too, had lots of ponies when I was younger, but I sold them on eBay in my twenties. My daughter also thought that you were “so pretty” in your picture!!

I’m so old, I can remember BEFORE there was a cartoon and they just existed as dolls. I did have a plastic stable full of them. When I got to cool for them, I gave them away, and my mom said I would regret getting rid of my old toys. She was right! Now I wish I had kept them!

Oh my gosh! I love this. Some colleagues and I were just talking about the ponies the other day. I had horses of my own so anything horsey/pony were my favorite toys in the whole wide world. So fun!

So cute! My daughter still loves My Little Pony. It is fun watching them play with things that I did as a child. I’m 40 and I wear Oscar the Grouch shirts- it’s fun being a kid at heart, huh?

I was totally into Barbies when I was a kid. I never got into the ponies. Then when I had kids, I had them into Barbies but again not the ponies.

The only thing I loved more than My little ponies were my Care Bears, mostly because of the Care Bear Stare, which seemed like pure magic to me.
