Ode to Grilling and How I love Thee
Ode to Grilling (And How I Love Thee)
Ode to Grilling,
and how I love thee,
For you have given me delicious joy,
And endless culinary creativity.
There’s something about strolling out to the grill,
on a summer weekend night,
Slapping on some fish or steak,
And watching it sizzle under the fading sunlight.
Quick and healthy,
Delicious and tasty,
From burgers to hot dogs to meatballs,
It’s all so easy.
My love for the grill,
Reached a new high,
When the power went out Sunday,
and had not returned by seven thirty.
Rather than pout or submit to tuna or beans,
I strolled outside to the grill.
A twist and turn with a little flame,
And omelets and toast saved the day!
This delicious feast sent my mind to spinning,
Imagine what I could grill, what I could create!
Beans or macaroni, brisket or ribs,
Smores, pie…maybe even cake.
Ode to Grilling,
And how I love thee.
For the day I cook a pie on the grill,
Will be a major victory.
Stay tuned, Invisible Friends! We have a new Wings mañana….

Grilling is the one thing I really don’t know how to do in the world of cooking! You’re basically a grilling rockstar, it seems.

i loooove grilling in the summer, + such a smart idea for when your power is out, or you don’t want your kitchen to be one zillion degrees on an already-hot day. time to schedule at least one grilling night at our house this week!

During the great northeast blackout a few years ago I remember wishing I had a grill because there was nothing in the house to eat, I had no cash, and couldn’t get any at ATMs or use a credit card. Sadly, grills are forbidden in my building even though I think a little tabletop hibachi would do well on my balcony.
I’ve heard of folks baking cakes in a Weber kettle. Don’t know if people like the taste of charcoal in their food though.

Pie on the grill? That would be awesome! Our electric goes out all the time during the summer. Pie would make it better. I used to live in Tucson!

I do hope your power came back on quickly! And the boy scouts claim to be able to make pies over the fire, so why not on a grill?

So cute! I love to grill too. In the summer, when it’s 150 degrees out and turning on the oven inside the house just sounds miserable, I adore my grill. I have never put pots and pans on it before. Wow! Very cool.
May 8th, 2012 at 10:25 pm
You have hidden talents:-). I can’t wait for the grilled pie. Have a wonderful evening. Blessings…Mary

Ha-ha! We love grilling season too. There’s no grilling in sundresses quite yet here though
Our grill saved us when our power was out for 2 days after a storm a few years back!
