One of these Muffins is not like the other

Posted on May 15th, 2013 in Food, Recipe and Review

Most of you don’t know this, but Ben lost 90 pounds.  Which means for the past year, I’ve been cooking boring things like broccoli and steamed vegetables.

So on Sunday, while making a birdhouse for his mom for Mother’s Day, he spoke words that be stilled my little cooking heart.

“Can you make some bran muffins?”

“Anything for my Ben,” I cried, and rushed to the store.  The only problem is that the store was devoid of wheat bran.   They only had oat bran.  Saying a prayer, I grabbed the box and scurried home, hoping he wouldn’t be able to tell.  I even made two versions– our classic muffin, and the oat bran applesauce muffin on the back of the box.

He could tell.  ”These are different, but good,” he decreed, trying the substitute original muffin recipe.  Biting into the oat bran applesauce muffins, his eyes widened.  ”These are good too!”

One man, 24 muffins.  It’s a good day in the Pond.
