Ode to Rainbow Brite and How I Love Thee

Ode to Rainbow Brite,

and how I love thee,

For without your spunk and moxie,

my childhood would have been empty.

It all started with the Rainbow Brite doll,

hidden in my preschool’s cubby,

Although we were supposed to share I hogged her to myself,

And spent my days dreaming up adventures across a rainbow sea.

What was there not to like?

Cute little dresses and a sprite named Twink,

Starlite and his rainbow mane and color sprinkles,

And even better– Tickled Pink!

As if Rainbow Brite wasn’t grand enough,

Her friend Tickled Pink was everything I wanted to be,

Her own sprite, her own horse named Sunriser, a pink dress and pink hair,

I even tried coloring mine once, just to be like her.

(It didn’t work).

If I can’t be Rainbow Brite or Tickled Pink,

At least I can dress like her.

All I need to do is find a horse and a color belt,

And I can make the world beautiful as she would!

Ode to Rainbow Brite,

And how I love thee,

For without you,

My childhood would have been colorless indeed.

Stay tuned, Invisible Friends!  A new recipe and review mañana!

My daughter got my old Starlite doll at my parent’s house and she took it home and sleeps with it. Calls it “white” instead, but it’s Starlite! Best horse ever. My parents also still have my Rainbow Brite dolls too. Never knew them hoarding everything would come in handy one day but it does!
