Ode to French Toast and How I love Thee Part 2

Ode to French and How I Love Thee (Again)

Ode to French Toast,

And how I love thee,

For breakfast or dinner,

You are perfectly tasty.

I’ve professed my love to French Toast before,

But I simply can’t just leave it at that,

There’s too much history, too much taste,

It always keeps me coming back.

Although I’ve never been one for French cuisine,

Snails and frogs just aren’t my preference,

French toast is one thing I happily embrace,

Espiecially with syrup to make it extra delicious.

Quick and easy,

Cheap and tasty,

Breakfast or dinner,

Lunch or brunch.

You can eat it at noon,

You can eat it at midnight,

Slurp it up with a spoon

Or fold it around eggs and bacon like a salty-sweet toast burrito–

Pardon me.

I’ve begun to drool.

Ode to French Toast,

And how I love thee,

Forgive me, my waffle friends,

For now, my heart belongs to French Toast,

And all the goodness it’s skillet-browned sides can provide,

The best part?

It’s mine.

All mine.

Stay tuned, Invisible Friends!  A new recipe and review manana!

I haven’t had french toast in a long while. Its so good. I think its mostly because we haven’t been buying bread- more tortillas and wraps. I think bread is due ;)

I used to stay at a B&B in Chincoteague that made these wonderful stuff french toast recipes. Then they sometimes made a butter pecan french toast with butter-pecan ice cream in the batter. *sigh* I wish that place hadn’t closed its doors. At least they published a cookbook while it was still in business. I can’t make those recipes myself if I want to.

You know how I really love french toast? I love a monte cristo sandwich. Put some turkey, ham, and swiss between two slices and dip the whole shebang in maple syrup. One of my most favorite sandwiches in the world.

Interestingly, I have never tasted a french toast my entire life :) Will give this a try!
