Austin SCBWI Conference Recap

Posted on February 10th, 2014 in Stories

This is the face of a Cynthia Leitich Smith Award finalist.

When I trotted up to Austin Saturday with a massive migraine and dark circles the size of craters, I was expecting to get skewered in my three critiques.  I was expecting to see all my old friends and meet some great authors like Nikki Loftin and PJ Hoover.  I was expecting to get a lot of great information.

What I wasn’t expecting was to be announced a finalist after I dragged my pounding head back to Fair Oaks after the lovely ladies who critiqued my work in progress had ripped me apart and sewed me back together stuffed full of high hopes and inspiration.  Soon the winner will be announced after being selected by Cynthia herself for a year-long mentorship.

There are no words.

Stay tuned, Invisible Friends! More fun is on the way!
